Mostar
2026In September 2024, my brother and I travelled to Croatia for a city trip, during which we also spent a day in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking landscapes that unfolded before me. The rugged mountains, rolling hills, and small historic villages left a lasting impression. Inspired by these memories, I recreated the landscape entirely from memory, capturing the atmosphere and beauty of this remarkable region in graphite.
Balto Refinery
2025Besides drawing inspiration from the many existing large industrial complexes, I possess an unlimited imagination of my own. I regularly create entirely imaginary industrial landscapes, each with its own unique name. The character of such a factory is often conveyed very powerfully in my drawings. The economic engine that constantly emits large amounts of pollution represents a hostile outside world. Nevertheless, I am able to discover beauty within it. I transform the darker side of a beautiful world into a drawing, giving industry a positive and compelling presence.
Bosnië
2025During a city trip in 2024, my brother and I stayed in Croatia. From there, we also took a day trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina. After visiting the beautiful city of Mostar, we explored the surrounding countryside. The landscape was breathtaking and possessed a truly picturesque character. It inspired me greatly to create this drawing. Vast natural scenery with small historic villages and ancient ruins continues to fuel my imagination endlessly.
Fibrant
2025Over the past few years, I have visited the Chemelot industrial site several times, where I had the opportunity to explore various plants within this vast chemical complex. Standing high above the installations gave me a unique perspective of the site. From the towers, I could overlook an endless network of pipelines, industrial structures, and production facilities stretching far into the distance. The scale and complexity of the complex made a lasting impression on me. Inspired by those experiences, I recreated this panoramic view entirely from memory and imagination, translating the atmosphere and intricate details into graphite.
Maïtré de Pluveaux
2025A completely fictional village with its own randomly invented name. Based on the characteristic old villages of France. A typical rural landscape imagined from my own vision: a sunny day in France, with a band of clouds stretching along the mountainside
Ruhr Gebied
2025The Ruhr region in Germany fascinated me greatly as a child. The vast amount of heavy industry, including steelworks, combined with the abundance of greenery, continues to be a major source of inspiration for my drawings. In this case, the subject is the Thyssenkrupp steelworks. A workers' village where the factory employees live, with the enormous steel industry rising in the background. In this drawing, I have sought to combine the town and the industry in a harmonious way. Achieving the correct perspective on paper was an extremely complex challenge, as I had to work everything out entirely from my own imagination.
The Chair
2025I imagine myself inside an old, abandoned building. The sun casts a bright light into an empty, dark room. In the middle stands a solitary chair, while the rest of the space has been completely stripped bare. From time to time, I struggle with feelings of loneliness, and in this work I express those emotions vividly. Sitting on the chair, I gaze out of the window at the harsh outside world while hiding away inside the abandoned building.
Vakwerkhuizen
2025Various places in Germany appeal to me greatly because of their characteristic, picturesque architecture. In this particular case, it is the distinctive half-timbered façades that inspired me. Historic buildings like these often encourage me to create my own interpretation on paper. It was a highly complex challenge to capture the entire composition in the correct perspective while balancing the contrasts created by the surrounding nature. In doing so, I succeeded in creating a harmonious balance between the townscape and the natural environment.
Behind the Window
2024From time to time, I imagine myself inside an abandoned building, as if I were exploring a forgotten place. An abandoned industrial site where a deathly silence prevails. There I stand, completely alone in an empty building. Lonely and dark, while bright sunlight streams inside, creating a striking interplay of light and shadow. In this way, the sunlight brings a subtle sign of life to the hushed atmosphere of faded glory
Somewhere in Split
2024Split behoort tot de mooiste steden die ik tot nu toe heb bezocht. De eeuwenoude stenen huizen en historische architectuur trokken direct mijn aandacht. Overal in de oude binnenstad zijn de sporen van de tijd zichtbaar: verweerde muren, oude dakpannen, houten luiken, balkons en planten die hun weg tussen de stenen vinden. Ik kan uren naar dit soort details kijken. Juist die verstilde schoonheid en authentieke sfeer inspireerden mij om deze tekening te maken. In plaats van een bekend monument heb ik de charme vastgelegd van een eenvoudige binnenplaats, verscholen in het historische hart van Split.
Venice Fantasy
2024This artwork was inspired by a combination of Venice, Italy, and my own imagination. Rather than depicting an existing location, I created a fictional waterside city where historic architecture and tranquil canals merge into one harmonious scene. Small boats are moored directly in front of the houses, allowing residents to step aboard from their own front doors. By blending reality with fantasy, I created a timeless place that exists only in my imagination.
Waterwheel
2024France, Belgium, and parts of South Limburg are among my greatest sources of inspiration. Based on these influences, I created an entirely imaginary scene on paper. It depicts a traditional old building with a waterwheel, surrounded by lush greenery. I can endlessly lose myself in these fantasies and soon imagine myself wandering through this fictional landscape. Filled with admiration, I take in the breathtaking scenery with its many old half-timbered houses. I have sought to capture that atmosphere strongly in this artwork.
Zicht op Trogir
2024In 2024, I spent a week in Croatia during a city trip. During my stay, I visited many beautiful places, including Trogir, an impressive town filled with historic buildings and charming squares. From one of the churches, I enjoyed a magnificent view over the townscape. Just like Split, this picturesque town completely captivated me. Its unique atmosphere and beauty became a rich source of inspiration, which I captured in this drawing.
